Almost every day I get asked where do I want to teach when I am done with the MAT program. I get the honor to share with almost a new person every day that I will be moving to Haiti. Sometimes this throws people off; however, most of the time God opens doors to share what He has en stored for Haiti =) Haiti being the poorest country in the world has a mighty God watching over it, just like I do and you do. No matter where you are in life, God is watching over you, He loves you, and all He wants is for you to love Him. When I committed my life to Christ, I told him that whatever he had planned for me I would say yes. Was it always what I wanted? No, it was not- but it was what my Creator wanted which quickly changed to be what I wanted.
God has given me the biggest heart for kids. I love how they are willing to learn, that they want to know truth, they want to know life. I have had the honor to be around kids all this year by working in an elementary school. I strongly believe that God placed this hardworking year in my life for a reason. He has a mighty plan for Haiti, as He does for us all!
What life in Haiti will look like... I will be living with Noel and Lori Tugwell and their 4 kids. Noel and Lori are partnering with Outside the Bowl http://www.outsidethebowl.org/ which is an organization that helps feed the poor all around the world. In order for the people of Haiti to hear about Jesus they need their first physical need fulfilled which is food. Noel and Lori will be running two soup kitchens where thousands of people will be fed. I will be assisting with this project any chance I get!! However, I am going to teach their 4 beautiful children. I have never done home school, I have never seen home school taught, but I know God will show me exactly what needs to get done. I am beyond excited to be taken in with this wonderful family. God placed this desire on my heart about 5 years ago and now I get to see it take place. We serve a huge God and He can do more than my mind can even imagine! I have no idea what else He is going to have me do in Haiti but I do know that He has given me a heart for orphans. I plan on loving every child I come in contact with, so they can see a small glimpse of how Jesus loves them.

Heart for Haiti
I literally have no idea where to begin. God has planted the nations on my heart for as long as I can remember. I had the desire to love on kids who have never been loved on before I even had the desire to run after God. I always wanted to go over seas and love children the way God loves us. He opened the doors for me my freshman year of college to Honduras for a spring break mission trip. Little did I know that He had much more planned for me. After the life changing spring break trip to Honduras, I went back to Honduras for 7 weeks 3 months later. On this trip, I heard God say, "After graduating with your Masters, you will be serving me over seas". I had no idea where He wanted me, I always thought Africa, but God thought else where.
I have the most loving family, they have supported me through all my trips and journeys, my highs and lows in life and everything in between. I always told them that after graduation God has something huge en stored for me. Slowly, they began to see this too. Like I said, I always thought it was somewhere in Africa. As time got closer to graduation, my mom called me and said, "What about Haiti?" She said I just feel like that is a place that needs you and the love of God. My mom has a friend who works at an orphanage in Haiti and told me to contact her. I tried to contact her, but nothing worked out. As my year towards undergrad graduation was getting closer, I was becoming very discouraged about where God wanted me or if He even wanted me over seas anymore. I thought, why would He put this HUGE desire in my heart and not provide? Well, of course it is God's timing and NOT mine. However, about 4 days later, God created the most fascinating, beautiful story...
It was a Friday afternoon, I really wanted to go get my nails done. I called about 4 friends to go with me but no one could. I was driving to the nail salon (not knowing which one I was going to) and debating in my head, should I get my nails done, should I not.. I don't need to spend money. However, I was like I don't have anything else to do on this rainy afternoon. I pulled up to a nail salon where there was only 1 worker (a very sweet lady) and as soon as I picked out my color another lady walked in. Then, I was like great, there is one lady working and two of us, I should just leave. I did not want to be rude, so I stayed. If only you could hear all of the doubts and negativity that was in my head... little did I know God was about to show me my future in this nail salon. The nail lady was talking to the lady sitting next to me (Lori) about how short her nails were, and Lori was saying that she had 4 kids so yes they are short. I began asking Lori about her kids (Who wouldn't ask a stranger about her kids?). She was telling me how she home schools her children, all 4 of them are adopted- 2 from China and 2 from Haiti. I asked her if she had ever been to Haiti and explained to me that yes, and they were actually moving there next year. I told her how I had the heart and desire to move to Haiti next year after I get my Masters in education. She said she needed a teacher for her kids. I was on cloud 9, listening to everything her family had planned for Haiti. It was everything I had been praying for and everything God had placed on my heart. We exchanged numberes and stayed in close contact over the next year.
Now, here I am wanting to share with you what God has planned =) This is just a little bit of His story. I will share with you exactly what we will be doing in Haiti, on my next post.
